Here's Your Regular Dose of Bookish Articles: NERDFIGHTER Edition!

Yeah, you read that title correctly.

I've been doing a lot of these "on-line article compilation" posts recently, but that's because people who write for magazines and newspapers are constantly publishing more articles! I like to keep updated with my bookish interests, and I try to keep you guys, my readers, up-to-date as well.

But, yes, this is (primarily) the Nerdfighter edition. Today I came across an abundance of John Green-related articles, most of them about Paper Towns. Here are the details:

1. "Of Course Taylor Swift’s Favorite Author Is John Green"

BuzzFeed writer Jarry Lee recounted a few social media posts that went back and forth between John Green (on his Tumblr blog) and Taylor Swift (also via Tumblr). Then, John Green excitedly told the Twittersphere all about it. It was really adorable.

2. "First look: Here are the black Santas in the ‘Paper Towns’ movie"

Andrew Sims at Hypable has done all of us a favour by embedding in this article an Instagram'd picture by John Green. The photograph shows Justice Smith (who has been selected to portray Radar in the film) sitting alongside a collection of black Santa Clauses. It's intriguing at the least, and definitely promising.

3. "Check out the First Behind-the-Scenes Pics of Cara Delevingne in Paper Towns!"

Seventeen magazine's website published an article this afternoon that reveals a couple of details about Cara Delevingne's role as Margo Roth Spiegelman in the upcoming adaptation of Paper Towns. Along with an Instagram picture posted by John Green that depicts him and Cara eating lunch together, Seventeen says that, in John's words, Cara's "audition blew him away."

There's also a picture of John with cast members Justice Smith (Radar) and Jaz Sinclair (who will act as Angela in the film).

Here's a bit of a bonus: not a Nerdfighteria-relevant article, but a pleasantly bookish one all the same . . .

4. "To 'Princess Bride' fans, Elwes says, 'As You Wish'"

You probably know Cary Elwes as the stunning Westley from the movie version of William Goldman's epic The Princess Bride. Elwes recently released a memoir, according to USA Today author Carly Mallenbaum, entitled As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales From the Making of The Princess Bride (view it on Goodreads).

Who wouldn't want to read the memoir of an accomplished-actor-slash-swashbuckling-Dread-Pirate-Roberts? I know I would.

Also . . .

5. "Want to be an extra in 'Paper Towns' movie?"

Come on. You know you want to.

Carol Motsinger at The Citizen-Times gives you all the specifics. The film company is seeking potential extras of various ages and ethnic backgrounds. Filming will be held in the foreseeable future in Asheville, North Carolina.

The article offers some guidelines for submitting your application, if you are interested in this opportunity. If you aren't, then wait a few months, sit back and relax at the movie's summertime premiere.

What other bookish news are you following at the moment? Would you ever apply to be an extra in the movie version of your favourite book? Talk about it in the comments!
